UNCDF showcases innovative idea for sustainable development on 73rd UN Day

The partners of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) - Banks and Financial Institutions - demonstrated innovative financial services during an event held at the United Nations office in Nepal.

The United Nations office in Nepal organized an event on October 25 to mark the 73rd United Nations Day with the theme ‘Innovation for Sustainable Development'.

The UNCDF and its partners showcased innovative digital financing models to build inclusive digital economies that address SDGs. The UNCDF celebrated UN Day with a slogan ‘Digital @UNCDF’.

The visitors were keen to know about the digital tablets works in opening the account through the partner banks - Laxmi Bank and Siddhartha Bank. The partners were busy explaining the process and there was a live account opening session with biometric provision. Some of the visitors also opened the account at Siddhartha Bank.

Similarly, Prabhu and Digital IME also showcased their products - digital IME’s mobile wallet got maximum number of queries from the visitors. Mobile wallet (mWallet) service is an easy method of doing banking transaction from mobile phones through mobile applications without having to visit bank. Bank related enquiries, utility payments, transaction alert and fund transfers to any accounts of Prabhu banks are the services that can be done through mobile wallet.

Sunfarmer and Mobile Krishi too exhibited their mobile money app - IME Pay and explained how to access a mobile wallet along with other services such as a virtual marketplace with financial services (credit, savings, and insurance) from multiple providers as well as a platform to purchase agricultural input.
